The RDCA’s AGM was held last Thursday night in the Parochial Hall, with twenty six island residents being able to attend. The meeting started with Michael Cecil’s Chair’s report, which highlighted just how busy the Association has been over the last year, with the Coastal Communities Fund grant for the Manor House, the ASDA Foundation’s grant for the Co-op Shop, the ongoing wind turbine project, and the end of the BIG Lottery’s funding of the RDCA being just some of the issues touched on. The Committee was happy to elaborate on the new funding secured for the next year from the Community Investment Fund.
After dealing with the accounts, a package of constitutional amendments on membership of the Association was tabled and accepted – there will be more information about this circulated around the membership shortly.
Updates were given on the Committee’s explorations of potential child support on the island, and reports were given by Aoife Ó Broin Molloy and Penny Sewell from the Co-op on the progress of the shop, and Fergus McFaul spoke on behalf of Islander Kelp. Also in attendance was John Waddell of DARD who updated everyone on progress on the Manor House project.
Three members of the Committee – Fergus McFaul, Tania McFaul and Ksenia Zywczuk – had stood down and were re-appointed, so the membership of the Committee remains the same as the previous year, as do the officers.
Many thanks as ever to the members who took the time to attend, and here’s looking forward to another very busy year of activity for the RDCA.
