Alley Cup Race, 04/04/10

Monday 26/04/10

Barbara and Douglas share their third prize with Millie.
Bea and Johnny receive their second place prize.

Fergus McFaul helps Brian with his rigging - minutes before the start of the race.
Four of the boats set out.
Loughie communicates the race course.
Marina McMullan congratulates Noel and Conor McCurdy on coming first.
Stephen and Douglas's boats before the race.
Stephen reaches for the next boat - this way of launching minimises the risk of collision.
The boats are launched - the launch order dictated by the drawing of lots.
The first race of the new season was extremely well attended, with three new boats bringing the race total to six. The expectation surrounding the new boats built over the winter led to a great atmosphere, and the new boats performed well. The next race will see more boats completed, and hopefully the great attendance will continue throughout the season. All photos Robin Chapple.
