What is nature doing while your back is turned? We gave each child at St Mary’s Primary School here on Rathlin a trail camera to find out! We asked them to choose a location where they thought they would get some exciting wildlife captures, tying in with their lessons in school where they have been learning how to take the data from the cameras, review the images, and how to edit and file them.
Now you can vote on your favourite image of what the children found (voting closes Friday 29 September, 2023). Please click on the link to vote for one of the photos, or you can make an entry in person in the Rathlin Co-op shop where the photos will be on display.
- 1st prize – Trail Camera
- 2nd prize – Knitted ferret from Rathlin’s own Kay McBernie
- 3rd prize – £10 voucher for Maud’s Ice Cream in Ballycastle (this was kindly donated)
We in the LIFE Raft Team believe education is a vital way to invite the next generation into the world of nature. And what better way to build enthusiasm and awareness of the environment than being hands-on? We are so excited to see what the children found using the technology from the project. Big thanks to all the children at St Mary’s Primary School for taking part!
