The Dingle was bound for Portrush on 30th November 1921 to pick up a cargo of stone when she ran onto the rocks, about 200 metres east of the Rue.
Diving information – The wreck of the Dingle was broken up the following summer by a Belfast salvage firm but there still remains some of her plating and part of her engine. Some of her plates can be seen just east of the lighthouse. What remains of the wreck is lying in very shallow water. It is advisable to dive it on the flood tide as the ebb tide runs quite close inshore at this spot.
